The ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) launched an AI capacity building project aimed at strengthening AI and ML capacities in developing countries. This project is a part of TSB's broader efforts to close the digital divide and enhance technological competencies globally, particularly in regions that are technologically underserved. At the core of this project is the mentoring activities, which pair AI experts with local practitioners in developing countries to provide training, guidance, and knowledge exchange.
The Special Rapporteur highlights the principles of transparency and explainability in the processing of personal data using artificial intelligence to enhance trust and reliability. She stresses the importance of taking measures to guarantee ethical, responsible and human rights compliant use of AI.
